Search

Climate change has a direct and considerable effect on food insecurity. As global temperatures rise, food production becomes more difficult and unpredictable owing to changes in weather patterns, extreme weather events, and other environmental disturbances. Increased or erratic rainfall, as well as exceptionally cold or excessively hot temperatures caused by weather pattern shifts, are likely to increase vulnerability to food insecurity, perhaps leading to malnourished children and a decline in food availability.
